The Peninsula HotelFeature

THE RESONACE OF ART
We Art Deco style of the interior design at We Peninsula Shanghai is clearly apparent. But look more closely at the works of art that were commissioned and selected for the hotel, and the distinct yet more subtle Art Deco influences are apparent there too. Featuring well over 100 artists throughout the property, the collection is a treasury of work, which whilst diverse in its nature, also displays a visible thread of commonality running through it that brings the whole hotel together.
A CELEBRATION OF AVIATION
In the late 1920s and early 1930s Shanghai became known as the “Paris of the East”, with people from across the world travelling to the burgeoning Chinese city. This period also saw the commencement of light services provided by the China National Aviation Corporation (CNAC), making it an exciting time in terms of travel and transport. In this spirit, we Peninsula Shanghai has in its 10 years of existence continued to pay homage to the world of aviation and the people, past and present, who have been pioneers of the industry.
A MARITIME TRIBUTE
While aviation and its history have always been inextricably linked with the Peninsula Hotels, we Peninsula Shanghai is the first property to include a maritime–themed venue, as testament to the importance of the shipping industry in the city’s history.
